Introduction to Debate videos?

Recently, freshman Jackson Lester suggested creating a series of videos to train future Debate I Students as to techniques for Lincoln-Douglas Debate. These videos would likely address many facets of debate, including:

Basic Introduction to Debate/Debate Terminology

Research Skills

Writing Affirmative and Negative Constructive Cases

Running Rounds from Affirmative and Negative Standpoints

These videos, which could be a potential source of income if marketed to other Debate Teams and Classes, are still in an "Idea Development" phase. More information will be forthcoming in the Materials section of this site.

Donovan, Team begin discussing new strategy for '05-'06 season

Led by future senior Matt Breen and Junior Roman Terentiev, it seems as if next year's debate team will have a radically different structure. Coach Laura Donovan announced Friday that attempts to increase funds would be made, namely sending donation requests to lawyers, alumni, and other distinguished persons, mostly in the greater Lexington area. This response served as a follow-up to graduating senior Mike Lutz's proposal do do this, made in January. Also, next year's team will focus even more on improving and retaining skills through weekly debates, as was proposed by Mike Lutz and freshman James Vestal. These changes in technique for the team, while intended to serve next year's team, will go into effect immediatelyin order to be able to evaluate their effectiveness before next year's season begins.
